Dr. Cynthia Lovell Elias

Dr. Cynthia Elias

Over 25 Years of Veterinary Experience

Dr. Cynthia Lovell Elias, owner and lead veterinarian, received her B.S. in Biology from the University of South Florida in 1990, completed 1 year of postbaccalaureate study at the University of Florida and graduated from the University of Florida College of Veterinary Medicine in 1995.  After returning to her hometown of Elizabeth City, NC, and practicing for 2 years there, Dr. Elias moved to Roanoke Rapids in 1997.  Shortly thereafter she met her husband, Tripp, while treating his dog, Blackjack and together they made Roanoke Rapids their home.

Dr. Elias worked in Roanoke Rapids at a local animal hospital and then worked for a little over a year in Emporia, Virginia.  In 2001 she took an associate position in Rocky Mount working with Dr. Marshall Coats for ten years.  But she still dreamed of having a hospital of her own close to home. From this dream, Creekside Animal Hospital was born.   Creekside Animal Hospital opened in late June of 2011 after much design, building, preparation, and finding just the right people to staff this new endeavor with caring, dedicated, and compassionate animal lovers.

As most veterinarians will tell you, Dr. Elias says being a veterinarian has been a dream since early childhood and she has dedicated her life to her profession.  Getting to be a part of a patient’s life from that pet’s young age, watching them grow, and helping provide medical care throughout the course of their entire life is one of her favorite things about her career. The human-animal bond is infinitely special, and she feels very honored to provide care for her patients – treating them as family.

Being a veterinarian doesn’t leave a lot of free time, but when she does find free time, she enjoys photography, flower gardening, and crafts of all kinds.   She also loves painting, and true to her heart, loves to paint dogs more than anything else – she even takes on commissions for portraits through her painting venture “Maisy Dog Fine Art” in her spare time.   She enjoys farm life and her and her husband have two children, two golden retrievers, a pack of beagles, a parrot, and two horses.

Dr. Everett Millikiin

Veterinarian

A native North Carolinian, Dr. Millikin was born and raised in Hamlet, N.C.  In high school he was active in the usual sports, such as tennis, and after school was filled with time with the Boy Scouts of America and part time jobs.  While attending college he worked part time as a veterinary assistant, and after receiving his B.S. degree in Animal Science from North Carolina State University in 1980, he pursued training to become a registered veterinary technician.  After graduation from Central Carolina Technical College, Dr. Millikin held a position at North Carolina State University’s College of Veterinary Medicine for six years as veterinary technician in the large and small animal departments, and the small animal intensive care unit.  All of his experience led him to the realization that his calling was indeed to be a veterinarian and he was admitted in the veterinary program at NCSU-CVM and graduated with his Doctor of Veterinary Medicine Degree in 1994.  After working in several different positions at emergency clinics and small animal private practices in and around the Raleigh area, he joined the Creekside team as a part time veterinarian in May of 2017.  His areas of special interest include internal medicine, emergency and critical care medicine, geriatric medicine, pain management and sports  medicine and rehabilitation. When he is not working, he enjoys time spent on the 170 acre family farm in Hamlet restoring a Longleaf Pine Ecosystem and spending time with his family – including his sweet family canine, Chloe.

Louis

Support Staff

Louis is our full time over-seer and guardian of the premesis. Typically not a morning “person,” Louis is usually grumpy until around noon.  He is frequently seen monitoring the daily operations at Creekside and coerces the staff into feeding him kitty treats to get him out of exam rooms in-between patient appointments. If you are lucky enough to catch a glimpse of him, or get a little “pat” in, consider yourself one of the “chosen few.”  He joined the staff early in the life of our hospital, several months after Creekside’s opening.

Dr. McDaniel

Dr. Oberlin McDaniel

Relief Veternarian

Raised on a farm in rural NC Dr. Oberlin McDaniel grew up riding horses and helping with her family’s cattle herd at an early age.  Dr. McDaniel attended North Carolina State University where she received a bachelor degree in animal science and nutrition as well as a master degree in poultry science.  May of 2017 she graduated from NCSU College of Veterinary Medicine where throughout her veterinary school career her main focus was developing knowledge and skills to better serve livestock producers and pet owners of Northeastern North Carolina. Dr. McDaniel’s passion is helping farmers achieve their goals raising livestock with emphasis on marketing, nutrition, genetics, fertility, environment, record keeping and of course herd health!

Dr. McDaniel spent months out west and in Canada participating in externships that focused on cow calf medicine and herd health. Other externships provided insight into equine medical practice. In her free time Dr. McDaniel enjoys working in her vegetable garden, spending time with family, riding horses, hiking, fishing, hunting, painting and managing her own cattle herd. Husband Billy McDaniel is a tobacco, sweet potato, butternut squash, peanuts and row crop farmer of Whitakers. Billy’s farm is what brought them to the area to settle down where they both love their dogs Boone (Catahoula), and Tiny (Great Dane) and a very interesting cat ‘MouseDog.’ In February 2019 they welcomed a baby boy name “Hutch” and couldn’t be happier!

She is owner and founder of NC Mobile Veterinary Service PLLC, servicing large animals, but loves the challenge of seeing a variety of animals!  In her “spare” time she enjoys working a few days with the Creekside Team treating small animals.
